Boutique Training Centres: The Difference Is the Personal Touch

Learning has taken on a very customized approach, tailoring programs to meet the specific needs of individual organizations. As the cookie-cutter training packages of the past are being replaced by indivualized training solutions, so too are boutique training centres appearing on the scene, catering to the specific needs of businesses.

"Companies need to maximize the effectiveness of their training investment, and the learning environment plays an important role in achieving this," stated Marjoriee Munroe of The PULSE Institute and the Centre for Collaborative Resolution. "Like a traditional environment such as a hotel or convention centre, boutique centres provide the essential tools and resources (including multimedia equipment, presentation aids and wireless Internet connection) as well as the little extras that come with the personal touch."

From the moment people walk in the door, they can see and feel the difference. The Centre's receptionist personally greets everyone as they arrive and is available to answer any questions. Onsite staff are also on hand to provide assistance.

Another aspect that sets boutique centres apart is the privacy afforded by having the facility to yourself. "Companies are used to holding events in large box-store facilities that often have multiple events running simultaneously, which can be very disruptive to the learning process. By comparison, a boutique centre provides a more intimate setting conducive to discussion and interaction with instructors and other participants," said Munroe.

This personalized environment is also great for helping to stimulate creative energy. The facility encourages a sense of openness that may not exist in another setting, and ideas flow naturally from the ensuing discussions. Breakout rooms are also available so that individuals can carry on the discussions in more depth in smaller groups.

"We also maintain a close connection to the community we serve by offering space for professional society meetings, and hosting informal industry events, such as our Whine and Wine for mediation professionals," stated Munroe.

If you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere that fosters openness and ignites creativity, a boutique training centre may just be the answer for your next event.
